CAGLIARI VS. INTER: THE LATEST AHEAD OF THE MATCH AGAINST THE ROSSOBLU

MILAN - After the home win against Sampdoria which was secured thanks to D’Ambrosio and Nainggolan goals and the away draw in Florence, Luciano Spalletti’s Inter are set for a second away game in five days at Cagliari. Kick-off is at 20:30 CET at the Sardegna Arena on matchday 26 of the 2018-19 Serie A TIM season.

At the pre-match press conference, Spalletti focused immediately on the physical and mental status of his squad. "We’re disappointed about Florence but we need to go again. The players have trained in the right way and they’ve got the right mentality which means a lot in this league."

The previous meeting in Sardinia was on 25 November 2017 that finished 1-3 thanks to a Brozovic goal and Icardi brace. The last meeting of the two teams was on 29 September 2018, with Politano on the scoresheet while Lautaro Martinez also netted his first Inter goal.

Matteo Politano scored his first Inter goal against the Rossoblu back in September. Radja Nainggolan’s league debut came for Cagliari against Inter in February 2010 at San Siro. The Belgian has been involved in a goal in his last three Serie A appearances with one goal and two assists.

The Nerazzurri have had three training sessions for this match. The first was on Monday with the squad split in two with recovery work for those who played in Florence. The second was on Wednesday with focus on possession and a match ahead of the final session today.

Luca Banti is the referee for the match between Cagliari and Inter. The official from Livorno will be assisted by Costanzo and Manganelli. Fourneau will be the fourth official. Doveri and Vivenzi will operate VAR.
