MILAN - Inter Women’s extraordinary run goes on. At the Suning Youth Development Centre, Sebastian De La Fuente's side beat Empoli 2-1. That result against the team in second extends Inter’s lead at the top to 14 points. Goals from Regazzoli and Marinelli were enough to win it on matchday 13 in Serie B. The Nerazzurre have now won 13 from 13, scoring 47 and conceding 5.

The match started as it would go on with Inter looking to attack out wide, Empoli did very well at keeping things tight while looking to play on the break. The first real chance came in the 20th minute when Marinelli made her way into the box but the shot was too weak and Vicenzi made the save. Two minutes later, Inter took the lead when Pandini gave it to Marinelli who played a low cross for Regazzoli who applied the finish. That sparked a response from the visitors who tried to level through Papaleo and then Cotrer but to no avail. Inter were then able to extend the lead, Regazzoli played a magnificent through-ball for Marinelli who converted after going round the goalkeeper. The first half finished with Inter 2-0 up.

After the break, Inter went straight back on the attack with Marinelli heading just wide. Empoli got back in the match thanks to a 62nd-minute goal when Boglioni profited from a mistake at the back to beat Schroffenegger In the 70th minute, the Nerazzurre had a big chance to restore the two-goal cushion from the spot but Vicenzi made a great save from Regazzoli. Five minutes later, the Empoli goalkeeper saved again from Rognoni to bail her teammates out. At the end, De La Fuente’s side managed possession to bring home the points against the team in second.

INTER 2-1 EMPOLI

Goals: 22' Regazzoli, 43' Marinelli, 62' Boglioni

INTER: 1 Schroffenegger; 15 Merlo, 3 D'Adda, 6 Locatelli, 5 Capucci; 18 Pandini (80' Pellens), 4 Pisano, 10 Regazzoli; 11 Costi (55' Rognoni 23), 7 Marinelli, 9 Baresi (65' Santi 22)

Substitutes: 21 Capelletti, 13 Pellens, 12 Pastrenge, 27 Carravetta, 28 Costa

Coach: Sebastian De La Fuente

EMPOLI: 1 Vicenzi, 2 Boglioni, 3 Di Guglielmo, 5 Esperti, 7 Prugna, 9 Papaleo, 13 Garnier, 17 Acuti, 18 De Vecchi, 31 Cotrer, 36 Begic

Substitutes: 27 Lugli, 6 Caucci, 10 Mastalli, 11 Nes, 20 Meropini, 19 Parrini, 23 Morucci

Coach: Alessandro Pistolesi

Referee: Bordin

Assistants: Collavo and Carraretto
