SEDRIANO – Sebastian De La Fuente’s side recorded yet another win, this time in a friendly: the Nerazzurre defeated ChievoVerona Valpo (a Serie A side) 2-1 in Sedriano thanks to goals from Rognoni and Regazzoli. Next week, Inter will be back in league action (no Serie B game for the Nerazzurre this week due to the international break) away to Roma XIV as the second half of the season begins.

It was a very even game in the first ten minutes: an offside call against Costi when she was just yards away from goal was the only real action in front of goal. Both Regazzoli and Marinelli both had efforts around the quarter-hour mark, but neither found the back of the net. In the 24th minute, a header from Pirone was saved by Capelletti. The first half came to a close with neither side having fashioned a clear-cut chance.

Inter began the second half really well and went ahead in the 50th minute through Alessia Rognoni with a lovely left-footed strike. Two minutes later, the Inter striker could have doubled her tally and the Nerazzurre’s lead but Raicu managed to keep her close-range effort out. Capelletti made an excellent stop around the hour mark to deny Pirone, but the Inter goalkeeper couldn’t do anything about the same player’s leveller in the 80th minute following a scramble in the box. De La Fuente’s side reacted strongly to this setback and scored the winner in the 87th minute as Regazzoli took aim and fired in a lovely goal following Merlo’s assist. There was no further action in the final minutes: Inter closed it out to win 2-1.

Inter 2-1 ChievoVerona Valpo
Goalscorers: 50' Rognoni, 80' Pirone, 87' Regazzoli.

Inter: Capelletti; Merlo, D'Adda, Locatelli, Pellens, Pisano, Regazzoli, Pandini, Costi, Marinelli, Baresi
Substitutes: Santi, Rognoni, Capucci, Giani
Coach: Sebastian De La Fuente

ChievoVerona Valpo: Raicu, Salamon, Faccioli, Ledri, Varriale, Tardini, Prost, Sardu, Mascanzoni, Boni, Pirone
Substitutes: Gritti, Zamarra, Zanoletti, Fuselli, Olivini, Tunoaia
Coach: Emiliano Bonazzoli
