SESTO SAN GIOVANNI – The Nerazzurri’s Primavera side started 2019 in the best possible way as they defeated Primavera 1 TIM league leaders Atalanta. It was a resilient performance by Inter, with the home side having to come from behind to pick up the three points after Piccoli had given Atalanta the lead. Dekic then kept the game alive as he kept out Colpani's penalty, before goals from Persyn and then Gavioli secured the win for Madonna’s side.

Armando Madonna, Vladan Dekic and Lorenzo Gavioli all spoke following the match:

Armando Madonna: "We wanted to put in a great performance. We knew that Atalanta were a very strong side, but we showed a lot of determination to get the three points. I’m disappointed with the goal we conceded because we gifted it them somewhat, but then the penalty save changed everything, meaning we managed to get the better of what is probably the best side in the league at the moment. We’re a fantastic team: if we play with the right attitude and intensity we can achieve great things. The Youth League was a magnificent experience for everyone, but playing in it had an effect on our energy levels and our performances weren’t as good in terms of consistency. Our objective is to continue to improve."

Vladan Dekic: "Atalanta demonstrated that they’re a very strong side, but we also put in a great performance. We managed to turn the game around collectively, it wasn’t just because of the penalty I saved. We believed until the end, and these are three very important points. Our defeat against Torino was a bad one, but we today’s result proves that we’ve got good mental strength."

Lorenzo Gavioli: "It was important to win after the Torino result: these are three points that will give us strength and confidence going forward. I’m very happy with my goal and want to carry on down this path. This victory means we’ll be able to approach our upcoming matches in the best way possible."
