SPALLETTI: "OUR FINAL BALL LACKED QUALITY"

The Nerazzurri tactician after Sunday's draw at the Olimpico: "We're heading in the right direction, but we need to take our chances more"

ROME - Luciano Spalletti had this to say after the 2-2 draw between Inter and Roma on matchday 14 in Serie A: "Our final ball was lacking quality somewhat tonight. We managed to get into their penalty area a number of times but then we forced things too much. We came up against a tough opponent. We wanted to pass it around more and that’s why I played with three midfielders with their specific qualities. We hoped Roma would drop off a bit more, but this didn’t happen. In any case, this is a useful point which suggests that we are heading in the right direction. But we have to find the back of the net when we’ve got the upper hand."

As for individuals, Spalletti added: “Icardi? He’s a true goalscorer and he’s always there when it counts. He’s a strong player with character and he's lethal in front of goal. Lautaro? We spoke in the week and he was great. He knew nothing about his father’s tweet and he asked him to remove it as soon as he saw it. He’s strong and he can defend himself. His response was important and he also apologised to his teammates.”
