PRIMAVERA 1 TIM, ROMA 4-2 INTER

Armando Madonna's side came from 2-0 down to make it 2-2 before falling to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Roma at the Stadio Tre Fontane

ROME - The Nerazzurri today took on Alberto De Rossi’s Roma side at the Stadio Tre Fontane, falling just short during their matchday 7 encounter in the Primavera 1 TIM Championship. The Giallorossi initially took the lead through goals from Celar and Cangiana in the ninth and 21st minutes, while the Nerazzurri then completed a great comeback on either side of half-time, getting back level thanks to goals from Adorante and Salcedo. However, just when the away side looked to be getting back into the game, Roma made it 3-2 thanks to a headed goal from Celar. The Giallorossi No.9 then completed his hat-trick to make it 4-2. The Nerazzurri will now look to redeem themselves straight away during Tuesday’s crucial Youth League fixture against Barcelona at the Stadio Breda.

Armando Madonna’s side got off to a tricky start at the Stadio Tre Fontane, with Celar breaking the deadlock in the ninth minute following a lethal Roma counter-attack. The Giallorossi attacker was played in by D’Orazio before his strike was then deflected off Pompetti into the back of the net. Inter tried to respond through Salcedo, however, his right-footed shot flew over.

Roma continued to press, looking to capitalise on the many errors committed by the Nerazzurri. Their second was scored in the 21st minute courtesy of Cangiano. Despite being two goals down, Madonna’s side then began to click into gear come the 30-minute mark, with Salcedo going extremely close to getting one back. However, some great chances where then followed by a deserved Nerazzurri goal in the 40th minute, as Adorante pulled off a splendid bicycle kick to make it 2-1. The Nerazzurri No.9 then very nearly equalised, only to be prevented by a fantastic save from Zamarion.

The second half got off the ideal start with Salcedo beating Zamarion with a wonderful side-footed effort to the far post. Inter continue to attack, in the 50th minute Schiro had a chance to fire Inter ahead but his shot went over. Just went the Nerazzurri seemed to have the momentum, Roma took the lead once more with Celar heading in from a Cangiano cross in the 54th minute. The drama continued with Grassini almost equalising for the Nerazzurri soon after. In the 66th minute, Corrado crossed it for Merola in the middle who fired just wide. Inter continued to push forward in search of the goal that would restore parity while Roma played on the break. In the 77th minute, Celar got the goal for his hat-trick, finishing well after being set up by Pezzella. At the end, Madonna’s side lacked the energy to launch another comeback and Alberto De Rossi’s team took the 4-2 win at the Stadio Tre Fontane.
