MILAN - We’re finally here. Following the dramatic encounter on May 20th, when Inter beat Lazio 3-2 on the last day of the season to secure their spot back in the Champions League, the Nerazzurri are now ready to start the new season.
Luciano Spalletti’s side will play their first game of the 2018-19 Serie A TIM campaign on Sunday 19 August at 20:45 CEST. Their opponents will be Roberto De Zerbi’s Sassuolo, with the match taking place at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia.
The Nerazzurri’s last away game against the Neroverdi wasn’t particularly pleasant, as they lost 1-0 on 23rd December thanks to a goal from Diego Falcinelli. Interestingly he was set up well by Matteo Politano that day, who has since become an Inter player.
Sassuolo vs. Inter will be refereed by Maurizio Mariani from Aprilia. He’ll be assisted by Carbone and Ranghetti, while Di Paolo will be the fourth official. VAR operators: Valeri and Del Giovane.
