When we arrived in Pititinga in 2005, the lengthy dirt path to the sea was unpaved, with the space for football unlit and many of the educational structures not even built.
The Fundação Vida in Pititinga is run for the good of the community, with particular attention being paid to young children. The local reality has changed a lot for many people and this is partially thanks to Inter Campus.
They can now play in a large grassy area or on the five-a-side pitch. Options are also available in Maracajau in a communal square, which is a well-known spot for futsal.
A positive evolution is not without difficulties, however. The local area is affected by petty crime, small thefts and substance abuse, which often impacts the youth. As is the case across the world, we’re trying to tackle this trend with facts, keeping kids involved in healthy activities as much as possible.
Even if structural issues exist, we still visit every week to help educate the kids through the ball. Whatever the weather, Inter Campus and the Fundação will continue to play their part, always focusing on the kids' development involved in the project.
