MILAN - Gabriele Bonacina’s Under-16 side today beat Sassuolo 3-0 at the Suning Youth Development Centre in memory of Giacinto Facchetti during the return leg of their quarter-final. With the opening leg finishing 1-1, a brace from Cortinovis and a goal from Esposito helped settle this second encounter. The result now means that Inter advance to the league’s Final Four, where they’ll take on Roma in the semi-final.
Bonacina’s side started the first half well and kept the lion’s share of possession, while, Sassuolo looked to defend and strike on the counter-attack. Despite chances, the interval soon arrived with the game locked at 0-0.
The second half began with Inter on the front foot, and they took the lead almost straight away thanks to a great goal from Esposito. The Nerazzurri Under-16s then doubled their lead in the 52nd minute through Cortinovis before he then scored a decisive third just four minutes later.
