VECCHI TO INTER TV: "I AM REALLY PLEASED FOR THE TEAM"

The Primavera coach was speaking after today's quarter-final success against Genoa in the Viareggio Cup: "We hope to reach the final"

VIAREGGIO - Stefano Vecchi’s Inter side today advanced to the semi-final of the 70th Viareggio Cup where they’ll now face Parma. A 93rd-minute goal from Federico Valietti ensured that the Nerazzurri snook past Genoa in dramatic fashion.

The Nerazzurri coach had this to say to Inter TV after the match: “If we’ve come to Viareggio it is because we want to finish out on top and win. We know very well that we have a lot of absentees, but playing matches like this gives us the confidence to progress further in the tournament. Our performance today demonstrated that we can play with desire and focus, while also showing the right attitude out on the pitch.”

Vecchi was keen to praise his players: “We are doing well here in Viareggio. We must give credit those who’ve recently played less but in this tournament are proving their worth, for example, the players from the Berretti. We are really pleased with what we’ve done so far.

“We’ve started with the handbrake on in most of our matches, therefore, we must show more determination. We need to be aware of our abilities, playing with the freedom shown in the second half today. We are solid squad and we hope to go as far as possible.”

Finally, the Italian tactician also had to say about Parma who Inter will face in the next round: “We know them well. In our last match we put in a mixed performance; very well in the first half, before they then got the better of us after the interval. In competitions like this, it often comes down to the smallest details. We must seek to do our best.”
