MILAN - “Greetings everyone. Today is a special day and one that is unforgettable for all of us. It’s an honour to be here and to take our club’s history forward with all the people who’ve worked and still work for this club.” This was what Steven Zhang had to say at the start of the Nerazzurri Gala in celebration of Inter’s 110th birthday. “Every time I visit the San Siro I feel the energy and passion that these colours bring. Hall of Fame? It is difficult to choose. It is not about who wins, but more about what they achieved with Inter and how they wore these colours.”
CEO Alessandro Antonello was then the next man to speak: “Our history must inspire us. The club’s founding fathers were revolutionaries, giving us important values and making us proud to wear the Nerazzurri shirt. This must provide inspiration for everyone. There are many legends here, who can now be role models for players today. To be CEO at this club is an important moment for me and it means a lot. I’d like to greet all the fans and thank them. The best moment of these 110 years? Our legendary history is really important and must be considered as a whole. The hope for the end of the season is that we can reach the goals that we set out at the start of the season. The coach is focused and the players are working well. On Sunday we have an important match and we want to impress.”
Lastly, Luciano Spalletti had this to say: “To celebrate this anniversary is an honour, a privilege and an important responsibility. Like the great champions that are here this evening, we have an obligation to write important pages into the club’s history. This birthday is another element of what it means to be part of a club like Inter and this must motivate us to guarantee the future of what this marvellous club deserves.”
