VECCHI TO INTER TV: “WE'LL GIVE OUR ALL TO ADVANCE IN THE YOUTH LEAGUE”

The Nerazzurri’s Primavera coach was speaking after Friday’s draw for the Round of 16

APPIANO GENTILE - “From what we know, Manchester City are obviously one of the strongest teams we could’ve got,” said Stefano Vecchi following yesterday’s UEFA Youth League draw. “It will be a great game and we will be sure to give our all. They have more experience and more knowledge of these matches, however, I hope that we manage to stay on top of the situation.”

“We won our last game and we deserve to have made it this far in the competition. At this stage, the strongest teams are left in and perhaps we could’ve been a bit luckier in the draw, although we know that we are just as good as them. We’ll play to win and battle hard. As for being among the best 16 teams in Europe, obviously, this is a positive source of pride for us. Inter’s Academy has put in some great work over the years and we deserve this. We are obviously pleased but we’ll be sure not to sit back now. We’re well aware that this match will be a real challenge and we’ll give everything to try and qualify.”

As for their involvement in the league, Vecchi had this to say: “We now have two matches before our Youth League encounter and these are both important for us. We’ve lost ground due to our last two defeats and Roma are getting closer. Sunday will see us take on one of the best teams in the league - Atalanta. We know it’ll be a difficult and complicated game, but as usual, we’ll try to show off our qualities and potential.”
