MILAN - After the win in Nanjing, Inter Forever can announce that there will be a new benefit match on 20th May at Norwich City's Carrow Road. The money raised will go to 'The Nest' social project which aids the building of sports facilities for communities in Norwich and Norfolk.
The match will also be a chance to celebrate 24 years since the historic cup run that the Canaries went on in the 1993-94 UEFA Cup before going out to Inter in the round of 16. Norwich beat Vitesse and Bayern Munich on their way. In the end, the Nerazzurri won the cup by beating Salzburg in the final. Will they get their revenge?
Among the Norwich players will be the club legend Bryan Gunn who made around 500 appearances for the Yellows. 2004 Championship winner Darren Huckerby will also be there and he is in the Norwich all-time best XI. Former captain with around 300 appearances and the 2003 Man of the Season Adam Drury is also set to take part. Inter Forever will respond with Francesco Toldo, Javier Zanetti and Nicola Berti among others.
Project Director Francesco Toldo was a guest of Bryan Gunn in Norwich where he watched a match and visited the Nest site and presented the match. 'It makes us very happy to be part of what will be a great celebration for Norwich City, more so as it's a benefit match. For us, it will be like it always is when we have the chance to meet again and wear the Inter shirt once more. It's always a great pleasure but also a big responsibility. We'll look to reunite part of that team from 1993 together with players from the successful eras that followed, looking to put on a good show.'
Bryan Gunn also spoke about Inter Forever's interest in embracing the project. 'It was really nice to meet Francesco and see his enthusiasm for the match. I'm sure that he will build a competitive team for the match in May.'
