SPALLETTI: "THAT WAS THE WIN OF A MATURE TEAM"

The Nerazzurri Coach's analysis after the win against Atalanta: "We took the game where we wanted, we're on the right road"

MILAN – It was the tenth win of the league season as Luciano Spalletti’s Inter moved second in the table on 33 points after the 2-0 over Atalanta in the late match of matchday 13. “We played the game as a mature team tonight, one who knows how to wait for the right moment and one which knows how far it can go, pushing the match into the direction that made the difference.”

The captain Icardi was very influential with a brace as he was decisive once more. “Mauro is a really strong footballer, he’s a bird of prey in the box who pounces on balls in the area. Wins however are determined by the group, we gave up very little and we did well to allow Mauro to score. We played as a team, we did well above all when we had the centre-midfielders getting together with Gagliardini dropping deep, while Miranda and Skriniar then created the right distance between the lines. It wasn’t easy because Atalanta have important players and they’re not easy to take on.”

“Up to now, we’ve changed little because the team has been able to maintain a certain balance and identity, it was important to build self-confidence and character inside of the group. But, during the course of the season, we will need everybody and in this condition it will be easier for other elements to come in, as Santon did tonight. I can’t be anything other than happy after a match like that but then there are obviously aspects that we need to improve on because the other teams are going very strongly. But, we have our project and we’re on the right road.”
