UEFA YOUTH LEAGUE: INTER 4-1 ESBJERG

A Rover brace along with Pinamonti's free kick and an Odgaard penalty saw the Nerazzurri net four in the UEFA Youth League - Domestic Champions Path

SESTO SAN GIOVANNI (MI) - Stefano Vecchi’s Primavera side picked up a significant win in the second round of the UEFA Youth League - Domestic Champions Path. The match between Inter and Esbjerg at the Stadio Breda ended 4-1 for the Nerazzurri who will play in the second leg on 22nd November away at the Danish side.

Despite a good start from the Nerazzurri, Esbjerg took the lead from their first shot on Dekic’s goal as he could do nothing to stop Larsen’s low strike in the 23rd minute. Vecchi looked to shake things up for his side by bringing Zappa on for Valietti and the results spoke for themselves. The Nerazzurri went level in the 38th minute with a perfect Pinamonti free kick. Soon after, the Danish side went down to ten as Easter was shown his second yellow card for a foul on Lombardoni. The comeback was made complete in the 42nd minute. Rover was fastest of all to get onto a scuffed Pinamonti effort and he beat Kikkenborg. Inter went into the break 2-1 up.

The match restarted as it had been before the break, with the same players on the pitch and Inter ahead. In the 53rd minute, Odgaard was brought down in the area by Schultz and the referee had no doubt that it was penalty. Odgaard himself stepped up to the spot and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 3-1. In the 73rd minute, Rover netted his second goal to make it 4-1 with a perfect right-foot effort on the turn. Inter navigated the final minutes of the match without any problems and the match ended after three minutes of stoppage time. Esbjerg were beaten 4-1 ahead of the second leg away in Denmark on 22nd November.
