INTER BEAT BAYERN 2-0 AT ICC SINGAPORE

The Nerazzurri put on a decent showing at Singapore National Stadium as Eder's first-half double proved to be the difference

SINGAPORE – Inter gave Luciano Spalletti the answers he was looking for in their first International Champions Cup Singapore match as they emerged as 2-0 winners against Bayern Munich at the National Stadium.

Eder scored both goals with his head, picked out by a pair of superb deliveries from Antonio Candreva and Ivan Perisic.

Bayern had the first chance of the game as Franck Ribery cut inside from the left and stung the palms of Samir Handanovic with a rasping drive.

But it was Inter who opened the scoring in the 9th minute when Candreva steered a cross in from the right, Eder stooped to connect on the bounce and directed his header into the top corner where Sven Ulreich had no chance of getting to it.

Carlo Ancelotti's side came back at Inter without creating any real threat and on the half-hour mark the Nerazzurri doubled their lead following a counter-attack. Yuto Nagtomo set Perisic away down the left and the Croat tore towards the byline before lofting a teasing cross into the danger area just as Eder arrived to nod home his second of the game.

Spalletti kept faith the same team for the start of the second period then made the first of numerous second-half changes when he withdrew Eder for Gabriel Barbosa five minutes into the half.

After Kingsley Coman had seen an effort blocked by Danilo D'Ambrosio, Joao Mario sent a free kick into the side netting from an acute angle.

With just over an hour on the clock, the Portuguese picked out Perisic in the box, but the winger was unable to hit the target.

Renato Sanches shaved the outside of the post with a stinging long-range drive in the 72nd minute and Handanovic had to be on his guard when Miranda inadvertently directed the ball towards goal.

A raft of late substitutions made no substantial difference to the course of the game as it ended 2-0 to Inter.

The Nerazzurri will be back in action at the same venue in 48 hours' time against reigning Premier League champions Chelsea.
