REGGIO EMILIA – The head of the Nerazzurri youth academy, Roberto Samaden, was a satisfied man after watching the Primavera lift the 2016/17 Scudetto.
"An extraordinary group got this victory," he began, "and it’s the completion of a project that was started three years ago, but there’s an important person behind this success: Stefano Vecchi. I can announce it officially that he has renewed his contract with us. The coach has been happy to help the club but came back here with the right attitude. That can’t have been easy following his experience in the first team.
"You all know the quality of our youth academy," Samaden continued, "but Stefano has had a massive hand in this success. We hope it can be a sign of things to come for the senior squad as well, our first victory under the Suning ownership.
"It was a good game, credit to Fiorentina. Now we’ll be playing in the UEFA Youth League and we’re happy to embark on this experience with Vecchi at the helm. Thanks again to the owners.
"Now we’re aiming to break the tradition of winning this league once every five years. It’s an exciting challenge and we’re confident our coach will bring us more trophies.
"Compliments to all the players; they’re all great footballers. Andrea Pinamonti was top class: his debut for the first team hasn’t changed him. He made himself available for the Primavera and not everyone would have done that.
"Thanks to all the Inter fans who follow the youth academy: this is our second league title in a week. We dedicate the win to Tommaso Ascoli, a little one from the academy who is turning six on Wednesday."
