REGGIO EMILIA - Inter Primavera have beaten Roma 1-0 and will face Fiorentina in the final with the Scudetto on the line.
Stefano Vecchi was naturally delighted with the win over the Giallorossi: "We played brilliantly - we were watchful and clinical. We were excellent in the first half, where we created a lot. Then we did well to turn the game in our favour and give little away with everyone digging in. We could even have scored a second. We need to have fewer hang-ups in the way we see out games though.
"I believe we deserve this final because of our progress over the years. Now we face an in-form Fiorentina side and we need to prepare well because we want to finish the job. The team's belief has definitely grown and lest we forget we had lots of '99s out there tonight. It's been an exciting season full of unexpected and positive events.
"Congratulations to the academy as a whole and to Roma's too. Against Chievo we really felt the effects of a lengthy spell without competitive action but we did well not to underestimate that match. We did equally well tonight as a team not to afford Roma much. Everyone deserves praise after a match like that. Andrea Pinamonti is a player who has great moral values as well as his physical and technical attributes. He plays for the team and I hope that he can get the winner in the final. I hope Vanheusden can follow in Pinamonti's footsteps as he's another '99. Training with the first team has done him good. He's ready and I hope he can play a big part for Inter going forward."
