VANHEUSDEN HAILS GRITTY WIN OVER CHIEVO

Belgian youngster after Inter secured their passage to the semis: "It wasn't easy because they're a very good team, but we showed we were the better side in the second half"

SASSUOLO – Inter U19 defender Zinho Vanheusden said Inter were good value for their win after they eventually overcame a resolute Chievo side to take their place in the last four of the Primavera league finals.

The Belgian centre-back, 17, headed the Nerazzurri into an early lead in Monday's quarter-final only for Chievo to restore parity minutes later. Rigoberto Rivas then scored what proved to be the winner for Inter shortly after the hour mark.

“It was a gritty performance and in the end our quality came to the fore," Vanheusden observed. "It wasn't easy because they're a very good team, but we showed we were the better side in the second half.

"I'm really pleased to get on the score sheet but even more so because we won and we're in the semis now."

The Belgium U19 international also revealed the benefits gleaned from his recent spell training with the first team.

“It was an amazing few weeks and I learnt loads by with so many top players.”

The Nerazzurri must now await the outcome of the last quarter-final between Roma and Lazio to find out who they must face on Thursday.
