SASSUOLO – Inter U19 got their Final Eight campaign off to a winning start this afternoon against Chievo Verona, thereby advancing to the semi-finals of the championship playoffs.
The Primavera started the better side and took the lead in the 11th minute, when Zinho Vanheusden headed home from a corner.
That goal sparked Chievo into life and they responded almost straight away, levelling up three minutes later after Andrea Isufaj beat Michele De Gregorio from close range.
Both sides had chances to score again in an entertaining first half, but at half-time the score was still 1-1.
The second half picked up where the first left off: end-to-end action with plenty of chances. The decisive moment came on the hour mark, as Rigoberto Rivas cut inside and let fly from the edge of the area, leaving the Chievo goalkeeper rooted as it hit the back of the net.
Inter managed to see off any danger for the remaining half hour and will now face the winners of Roma v Lazio on Thursday for a place in the final.
