SAINSBURY LEARNING "EVERY DAY" AT INTER

The Australian defender is a guest on this week’s Caffe Doppio and shares his thoughts on his time at the club

APPIANO GENTILE –  On this Thursday’s Caffe Doppio on Inter Channel, Trent Sainsbury tells us about life so far with the Nerazzurri.

"Inter are one of the world’s top clubs. Some of Europe’s best players have played here and won all there is to win," he said.

"When you’re told that you have the chance to come here, to train and see how professionals go about their business at such a big club, it seems unreal.

"In Australia, you run a lot more. There aren’t the same tactical standards as in Italy, but the Australian game is developing year by year.

"From a technical point of view, and in physical terms, the Chinese sides aren't on the same level as Europe. They’ve got extensive resources to reach that level. It’s a young league, but they’ll get there in the next few years.

"In the Netherlands, it’s about playing football, defending man-to-man, trying to score more than your opponents. In Italy it’s more tactical, you need to defend a great deal and when you get into the final third you need to show ability and score. I love the passion here in Italy – it’s something you don’t see everywhere.

"I’m trying to enjoy every moment. I’m not sure what will happen. I’m trying to learn every day and make the most of every opportunity.

"Milan is a city I could live in once I stop playing football, if I don’t go back to Australia. There are new things to discover each day; in the city centre, you’re surrounded by culture. You don’t get that with many cities across the world."
