MILAN - Stefano Vecchi's side converted their first match point to book their place in the Primavera championship's season-ending Final Eight. Thanks to their 2-1 win at Frosinone, Inter sealed their spot in the play-offs with two matches to spare. The country's eight best sides will battle it out from 4 June onwards.
Andrea Zanchetta's youngsters did likewise, cruising to a 3-0 victory over Cesena at Suning Development Centre in memory of Giacinto Facchetti. Three points on the final day of the regular season secured second spot in Group B, just two points behind leaders Atalanta.
Gianmario Corti's Under-18s also capped their regular season off in style with a win away at Feralpisalò. The Berretti side consolidated their grip on top spot, moving to 66 points and now await the final on 9 June aiming to be crowned champions.
The Under-15s, meanwhile, finished with a total of 67 points after a draw at Spal, giving them an eight and nine-point cushion over Atalanta and AC Milan respectively.
Finally, the Nerazzurri academy was also involved in international competition over the weekend. Lombardo's 2001 crop meet Dinamo Kiev in the Vitali Daraselia trophy semi-final today in Tbilisi, while the Under-14s bowed out of the Daniel Ruiz Basan trophy on penalties after a goalless draw with Real Madrid.
