ALTOPASCIO - Nerazzurri academy director Roberto Samaden spoke to Inter Channel after watching the Primavera lose to Sassuolo on penalties in the quarter-finals of the Viareggio Cup.
"Matches always tend to be very even in this competition and often come down to key moments. We created a lot in the first half and conceded from Sassuolo's only chance. Then the going got tough when we went a man down but we still managed to equalise. The shootout ultimately went Sassuolo's way," said Samaden.
"We were missing a few players but Sassuolo also had guys away on international duty. Viareggio is still always an excellent opportunity to assess the guys who don't play as much football in the league. Vecchi rotated almost the whole squad and I think they responded in a positive way. Now we face a difficult league run-in. We must rest up and recover some injured players because they'll all be cup finals. It's between us, Roma and Atalanta for a direct place in the Final Eight."
