MIXED FEELINGS FOR D'AMBROSIO

Disappointed with the dropped pounts but delighted with his first Italy call-up: "Thanks to the club, Pioli and my team-mates. We deserved more than a draw today"

TURIN - It was a day of mixed feelings for Danilo D'Ambrosio as the joy of his first Italy call-up in the afternoon was offset by two dropped points against Torino in the evening.

The 28-year-old discussed both in the mixed zone at the Stadio Olimpico after the 2-2 draw on Saturday.

"We have to win because we're Inter and because it's the only option given our league position. A draw is less than we deserved tonight.

“We knew Torino would play at a high tempo. We took the lead then let one in and at the end we had the chances to make it 3-2 but we weren't able to take them.

“We're all working hard and we're willing to get stuck in and go the extra yard – that's what we need to keep doing till the end if we want to try and finish third.”

At least there was some good news on a personal level as Danilo was named in Giampiero Ventura's Azzurri squad for the forthcoming games against Albania and Netherlands.

“It's a dream come true. I have to thank the club and the coach. If I've got this call-up it's because the whole team is playing well. A win today would have been the icing on the cake.”
