PINAMONTI SPEAKS AT EDUCATIONAL PROJECT LAUNCH

The Inter youngster was at the launch of a new project which seeks to encourage young sportspeople to keep up their education

ROME – Today, at the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR), the pilot of a new initiative promoted by the Lega Serie A and the Italian National Olympic Committee was launched. Websport 3.60, which is still in at the experimentation phase, is a project which seeks to discourage young athletes from abandoning their studies.

Andrea Pinamonti was in attendance at the event and – after meeting Gabriele Toccafondi, undersecretary at the MIUR, and Valeria Fedeli, education minister – he spoke at the news conference about his own experience. He underlined how important it is for young footballers to balance their sporting and educational commitments.

"This is an important project because it helps those people, who like me have many commitments on the pitch, on their journey. Football is my passion, but it’s important to keep up some kind of education," he said.

The youngster also took the chance to answer a few more general questions about Inter’s progress.

While refusing to comment on the controversy surrounding the defeat against Juventus in Turin, he praised the team’s performance, saying: "We put in a great display and I’m glad to be part of that group."

As for whether Pinamonti may get his chance in the absence of Mauro Icardi, who will serve a suspension, he said: "I don’t know about that. Those decisions are to be made by the boss. I’ll make sure I’m ready. I’ll concentrate on having the right attitude."
