PAGANIN: "IMPORTANT SPELL AT INTER"

The former Nerazzurri defender is the guest on Memorabilia on Inter Channel: "Scoring in the derby was something else"

APPIANO GENTILE - Inter Channel is back for its weekly instalment of Memorabilia on Wednesdays. The latest guest is Massimo Paganin: "I still get goosebumps when I watch back footage of the goal I scored in the derby. I remember the ball breaking to me and then striking it. We often worked on corner routines with Ince blocking opposition defenders and Festa and I losing our markers at the back post. Scoring in a derby is something else, especially for a defender.

"I enjoyed my time at Inter. We won the UEFA Cup in that period and, above all, laid the groundwork for future triumphs. My only regret is that I didn't hang on a bit longer to secure better results. The year I left would have topped it all."

In his first season at Bologna, Paganin faced his old club, with Ronaldo to boot: "He really was at the peak of his powers in those three years at PSV, Barcelona and Inter. Everyone remembers the first goal he scored against me but the truth is he settled very quickly into life in Serie A.

"These days I'm still playing for Inter Forever and it's nice to keep in touch with the football world and Inter. It's great. You get to see old team-mates but what matters is being here to be able to prove you were a part of this club's history."
