MILAN – Mauro Icardi praised Inter for fighting until the very last second to get back into their Coppa Italia quarter-final with Lazio.
"We played well at the start, but sometimes you can switch off once and concede straight away," said Icardi after the final whistle. "That’s what happened, but we managed to keep pushing. Physically we performed well – we stayed in it until the last.
"We need to work on the little things we got wrong over the coming week. Our aim is to get back into the Champions League and to do that we need to perform well in every game. We’re on a long winning streak in the league, our mindset is spot on and we’re working hard, so I think we can beat anyone."
Icardi also had a message for Andrea Ranocchia, who has joined Hull City on loan until the end of the season.
"I’d like to wish him the best of luck,” said Icardi. “He’s a pro and has trained very well. I’m sure he’ll prove his worth in England."
