VECCHI: "WE'VE ENDED 2016 ON A HIGH"

Primavera boss full of praise for his team after they secured a sixth straight win with Wednesday's quarter-final success against Atalanta

SESTO SAN GIOVANNI – It was the perfect way to sign off 2016. A 3-1 triumph over Atalanta in the Primavera Coppa Italia this afternoon saw Inter Under-19s book their place in the semi-finals – and extended their winning streak to six games.

Speaking after the match, Stefano Vecchi expressed his satisfaction with the result but admitted his side were off the pace at the beginning.

"We started slowly but after they took the lead we stepped up the pace and intensity and managed to make our quality count,” the coach told Inter Channel.

“We weren't really in it in the first part of the game. Once I moved Emmers up into the hole behind the front two we did much better.

“We've ended the year on an upwards curve. Ever since the game against Cagliari we've looked like real team and we've now won six on the bounce. We finish 2016 top of the league and with a last-four berth in the cup assured.”
