MILAN – Stefano Vecchi cut a satisfied figure after the Primavera's comfortable 4-0 win against Frosinone this afternoon.
"We did well to sway the game in our favour after just one minute with the penalty, and there was an element of fortune there too," he said following the contest. "Then we controlled the game, creating and finishing off numerous chances.
"We're pleased because on paper no game is easy," Vecchi continued. "We knew we had to grab this opportunity seeing as our closest competitors dropped points yesterday. We've got a tough group with many top teams and we can't throw points away. We lost against Novara and now we have to climb back up without putting a foot wrong."
The Inter U19 coach had words of praise for the much-improved Axel Bakayoko, who has contributed to the run of four wins with six goals. "He began the season seemingly with the handbrake on, but we knew he could be important for us. He's on the right track and he needs to carry on like this.
"As for our squad size, if we progress in every competition, there'll be space for everyone. It's up to me to make the decisions and add consistency to the team, but there's quality in this squad."
