MILAN – Legendary Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli is today celebrating his 61st birthday.
Born on 28 November 1955 in Sonnino, Spillo – as he was affectionately known by the Inter fans – scored an incredible 209 goals in 466 games for the Nerazzurri over an 11-year association with the club, winning two Coppa Italias and one Scudetto in the process.
Speaking to Inter Channel a few years ago, Altobelli spoke of the club in glowing terms: "The Inter jersey was my whole life. I was a born Interista."
Inter’s second-top goalscorer of all time, Altobelli is the club’s leading goalscorer outright in the Coppa Italia and Super Cup (46) and all European competitions (35).
The striker also won the World Cup with Italy in 1982.
Everyone at F.C. Internazionale would like to wish Altobelli many happy returns on his birthday.
