APPIANO GENTILE – Stefano Pioli has called for his Inter side to give everything they have for the cause when the Derby della Madonnina rolls around on Sunday night.
"It’s getting closer and the excitement is building – as must our concentration," Pioli told Mediaset Premium. "We’ve prepared well and we want to give our all on the pitch. We know all about our opposition and we’ve worked hard on how we want to play – we want to stick together as a team until the very end."
The Nerazzurri boss went on to outline his expectations from the team during his tenure.
"I think that the most important thing is to play with passion, drive, enthusiasm and a desire to show that this is Inter. We want to produce a fantastic performance," explained Pioli.
"I think I’ve arrived here at the right time. Inter are one of the biggest clubs in the world. Our fans are very passionate and we have to prove to them that we’re worthy of this shirt. We have amazing support from the club – everything is working well. We’re all working together to put Inter back where we belong," he added.
Pioli also gave his take on AC Milan’s season so far.
"AC Milan are having an excellent campaign and they’re certainly making the most of the fact that they’re not in Europe this season. They’ve managed to become compact, solid. That said, I think it’s important to focus on my players."
The Inter boss was coy when asked who would make the starting eleven on Sunday night.
"I have it in my head but we still need to discuss it and have a look at a few things. It won’t be hard for me to make the final call because no matter who plays, they’ll step up."
Last but not least, Pioli spoke about his relationship with Antonio Candreva, who he coached during his time at Lazio.
"I’ve had a good chat with all the players. He’s very motivated, he’s a great player and a fantastic professional."
