TOKYO – Over 80 Japanese youngsters gathered in Fuchu on Tuesday 8 November for the first Inter Academy Japan trial session.
The aim is to identify prospective players for two Inter Academy teams – at Under-9 and Under-15 level – that will compete in competitions run up the Japanese Football Association from April 2017.
Sporting director Jo Shoji said he was very pleased both with the quality on display and the turnout at the first session.
Meanwhile technical director Alessandro Zanato hailed Tuesday's trials as an important first step towards the creation of a competitive set-up in Japan.
A second trials session will be held on 23 November – once again in Fuchu – for children aged 7-13.
