RANOCCHIA: "WE HAVE TO SHOW OUR ABILITY"

The Nerazzurri defender was speaking in today's conference: "It's not easy right now but it's a great opportunity to show our true quality"

SOUTHAMPTONAndrea Ranocchia insisted that tomorrow's game against Southampton in Matchday 4 of the Europa League is the perfect opportunity to send out a statement to the world of football.

"We're all professionals and we've seen it all," the Italian centre-back said in the pre-match news conference at St Mary's. "Everyone is sad about what happened to Frank de Boer, but from our part we want to bounce back. It's in the past now, we have to focus on tomorrow's match.

"It's not easy at the moment, but this is a great opportunity to prove we're still alive and show the fruits of our labour. If Southampton want to win, they will have to play at their best.

"No more excuses: we need a reaction from the players and the club as a whole," Ranocchia concluded. "There was no breakdown in communication with De Boer, but let's just focus on advancing in the Europa League now. There's a lot of talk about the change in coach, but for 90 minutes tomorrow we're playing with an objective in mind and we need to focus purely on that."
