DE BOER: "THE KIND OF DISPLAY I WANT TO SEE"

After Inter’s home win over Torino, Frank de Boer called on his players to show more of the same

MILAN – Inter coach Frank de Boer expressed a great deal of satisfaction after the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 victory against Torino at the San Siro, in their tenth league game of the season.

"After three straight defeats, it was important to pick up three points. Not only did we win today, but we also put in a good performance. I’m really proud of what the lads showed; this is the kind of display I want to see. Torino’s only chances came from our mistakes; other than that, we dominated the game.

"Up until now, I’ve only ever seen a united team and that was clear tonight. The club offers its support and that’s fundamental, but the message must come from us. We need to work hard every day and always play like this. It’s important that the players go into games with confidence and discipline. Tonight, we saw a crucial step forward but I want to see the same attitude against Sampdoria.

"I’m very happy. It’s never easy when you’ve suffered three losses on the bounce, but I’ve always stayed positive. I, along with my staff, have always known the only way of getting out of this run is to work hard. The result of that was on display this evening. I’ve got a lot of faith in the team and tonight we gave a big performance for our fans, who were fantastic in their support."

The boss then offered his thoughts on the match winner, Icardi: "He’s a fantastic player and he’s always set a great example on the pitch, both in training and in games."

As for Gabigol’s involvement in the side, De Boer said: "Everything in due course; we’re in a tough run and his chance will come."
