INTER ACADEMY SETS UP ELITE TEAMS IN SHANGHAI

Hundreds of young children from the Yitao F.C. network took part in trials for teams in the pre-competitive age group

SHANGHAI – Inter Academy coach Kevin Cauet, who is based permanently in Shanghai for the time being, has responded to the creation of the Elite Teams last week.

"Seeing almost 200 kids turn up to the trials for our Elite Teams means the Inter Academy Yitao Shanghai project is getting bigger and bigger," he declared. "After a successful first year, we want to build on these foundations and try to develop every day."

More than 100 kids will make up the squads at this level, where the football remains non-competitive, drawn from 20 schools of the Yitao F.C. Network.

"There has been great involvement from the children," added Massimo Ciocci, another Nerazzurri coach working in the Chinese city. "Beyond the talent of certain individual kids, it's been a great pleasure and surprise for me to see everyone wanting to do well. They were all really keen on being part of our Elite Teams, aware of the importance of this project which is constantly expanding."

Inter Academy Technical Director Marco Monti was also in Shanghai last week to share coaching strategies with partners after a visit to Beijing.
