EDER: "HEADS DOWN, HARD WORK"

"We gave the first half away. The only way to come through this is by giving even more," admitted the forward after the defeat to Atalanta

BERGAMO – Inter No.23 Eder acknowledged that the Nerazzurri need to roll their sleeves up and work even harder in the wake of their 2-1 defeat to Atalanta on Sunday afternoon.

"We gave the first half away," admitted Eder after the game. "We played better in the second half but then the penalty was a bitter pill to swallow. All we can do is work, work, work. We need to look at ourselves and give everything we have.

"We have to turn things around. We created chances today with Perisic and Joao Mario, but we just couldn’t get that second goal."

The Italian international also brushed aside criticism of Frank de Boer.

"There’s a lot of talk in football. We’re just focused on giving 100% and doing what the coach asks of us. Sometimes it doesn’t work for us, as was the case today. We just need to get our heads down and work hard."

Looking ahead to the future, Eder was keen to stress that there is still all to play for in Serie A.

"There’s a long season ahead so you can never say for sure what’s going to happen. When we actually played football in the second half, we created chances. We all need to give more. That’s the only way to pull through this."
