MILAN – After Inter’s 1-0 victory over Southampton at the San Siro, Davide Santon shared some of his thoughts with Inter Channel.
"To outnumber your opponents you need to be daring and try to beat your man. It was a piece of play like that which created the goal this evening; it was important for me but more so for the team," the Nerazzurri defender said.
"It was not one of our best games, but it was important ahead of the trip to Bergamo. When you’re playing once every three days, you need to recover quickly so it’s tough. But I feel better all the time."
Commenting on his position during the Europa League match, Santon said: "With Eder on my side of the pitch, I had more space to push up. When Ivan Perisic plays I have a more defensive role."
The defender also said a few words about what to expect in the return clash: "I’ve played in England. It will be an intense atmosphere because there’ll be a lot of fans and they’ll be up for it.
"We’ll go into it looking to play our game, knowing that we are a good side. However, we first need to think about the game away at Atalanta, when we need to play like a team, as we did this evening."
