EMPOLI – Javier Zanetti has offered a few thoughts on this evening's encounter shortly before kick-off in Empoli v Inter.
"We're pleased with what Mauro Icardi is doing, he's our captain," Inter's vice president said to Mediaset Premium. "He understands the responsibility attached to that armband and is proving that he's at the top of his game, playing like a leader. Frank de Boer respects him a lot and has faith in him."
He also expanded on the start the new Nerazzurri coach has made: "As a club we always believed in his work and ideas. We're still at the beginning, he's just joined us and there's so much still to do. We put in a great performance on Sunday, we hope to repeat it tonight."
Finally, Zanetti spoke about Marcelo Brozovic's absence from the squad: "The situation is in his hands, there are rules and whatever happens the club has to be respected. Every player who pulls on the Inter shirt must know this."
