APPIANO GENTILE - President Erick Thohir spoke to Inter Channel a little earlier: "It's important to show that I support Inter, the new coach, the management and also the players. That's why I had to be here. It's a very long flight from Brazil but you have to be here to show support. It's beautiful weather in Milan too... better than Rio!"
The conversation then turned to Inter's new coach, Frank de Boer: "I would like to say thank you to Roberto Mancini. Last season was successful and we improved a lot. I also mentioned to Frank, 'This is Inter', we have great history and it's important that he works, works, and works again, like the president. It's important to show the fans that we are serious people. We want to make sure Inter get back into the Champions League."
Could the coaching change have an impact on transfer dealings?
"The most important thing is that we want to strengthen the team. We've brought in Candreva already. There might be one or two players we want to bring in but I think it's important that these players are good for Inter. Of course Frank still has time to evaluate the team, I think he has a new way of playing football. Maybe it's different, I don't know, let's see. We're going evaluate the team too but that doesn't mean that we're going to weaken the team. We want to strengthen the team."
The president's was a welcome visit before he returns to Brazil in his capacity as head of the Indonesian Olympic Committee: "I'm flying back to Brazil because I need to secure gold for my country, Indonesia. So far, we've only won two silvers. After Brazil I have a few meetings in London, then I'll come back to Milan on 27 August for the first game, at home. I'll be here, don't worry."
