SALT LAKE CITY - Danilo D'Ambrosio insists Tuesday night's win over Real Salt Lake is good for confidence, even though it was only a pre-season friendly.
The Italian defender volleyed home the equaliser for Inter at Rio Tinto Stadium, before Stevan Jovetic grabbed a stunning late winner.
"Real Salt Lake have some excellent players and they're further ahead than us with their preparations," D'Ambrosio said after the match. "They ran us hard and played well. It's just a friendly and we're doing some pretty intensive training but we still want to do well. Getting the win today is good for our confidence.
"It's great to be here and we're all enjoying it. We started work on 4 July and we're all grafting hard to get ourselves in top shape for the coming season. We're Inter and we must always give our best."
On increased competition for a starting berth: “We'll have an extra tournament to play in this year so you need more options.”
