PORTLAND – Nerazzurri trio Senna Miangue, Stevan Jovetic and Joao Miranda met with American journalists on Monday, sharing their views on the opponents Inter will be facing during their US tour and their impressions of Major League Soccer.
The Belgian defender was first up to the microphones.
"It's very exciting for me to be here with the first team. I like Portland, it's a nice place. It's an honour to be here in the States.
“We can't wait to play our first match against Real Salt Lake. It's a friendly but it's important to play well and try to win. Results breed confidence.
“I haven't seen any live MLS matches yet but I know there are lots of European players plying their trade here now and doing well. It's a league on the up.”
The Montenegrin forward spoke next.
"I've seen MLS matches before. There are lots of great players here and the league is thriving.
“A tournament like the International Champions Cup is good preparation for the season ahead because we play against top teams. I hope to see lots of fans at the stadium. We want to do well in the competition and get ourselves ready for the big Serie A kick-off.
“All the matches we have to play are important. Going up against teams with different playing styles helps you move up through the gears.
“Paris Saint-Germain will be a great match because they're a top side. It's always a good thing when two top sides come together.
“Inter have fans all over the world and it's good that they get to see us live.”
Finally, it was over to the Brazilian centre-back.
"Every match will be different because we're playing an MLS team, a South American team and two European teams. The International Champions Cup is a trophy and winning is always a good thing – whether it's for trophies or just friendlies – so we want to win.
“I've seen MLS and it's a good league. Our matches can help bring fans closer to the game although it's already growing quickly here.
"I'm excited about playing against Estudiantes. I like difficult games because they give you extra incentive. We have lots of fans in New York who will come to see us.”
