PALACIO: "I WANT TO TAKE INTER WHERE THEY DESERVE TO BE"

"We want to get back into the Champions League. The dream is to win the Scudetto wearing these colours," the Argentine said on Inter Channel's Season Review

APPIANO GENTILE – In the latest episode of Season Review on Inter Channel, it's Rodrigo Palacio’s turn to relive the 2015/16 campaign.

“Every time I took to the pitch, I always tried to give my best. Although I played slightly less, the most important thing is that the team gets results," the Argentine forward began.

“When a striker isn’t scoring, it’s natural for a coach to pick him less often. I was angry with myself about that. I tried to be useful in other ways, from a tactical perspective, providing assists for my team-mates."

On 8 January, the club announced that Palacio had extended his contract.

“It shows the faith the club and the manager have in me. I'm very happy to stay at Inter for another year.”

Rodrigo then told us what he enjoyed about his season.

“I am proud because I always think of the team and not just about myself. I'm happy when one of my team-mates scores and we win together. I think I show that by giving my best for everyone, in order to win and not just to score goals. At every club I’ve been at, I’ve always played for the team.”

After several years with the Nerazzurri, Palacio is a key figure in the Inter dressing room.

“I don’t necessarily feel like I’m a leader, I don’t speak much and I concentrate on training well. I try and do my best for the team. When I came here four years ago there were quite a few leaders, as well as many of my compatriots.”

The striker went on to talk about his aims and dreams for the future.

“Taking Inter where they deserve to be, in the Champions League and perhaps winning the Scudetto. I know it might seem like a tough ask now, but that is the dream.

"On a personal level I want to play more, score lots of goals and help the squad achieve its aims.”
