MILAN – Javier Zanetti was present at the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to the memories of Giacinto Facchetti and Cesare Maldini – which has the inscription "Champions on the pitch and in life" – in a new green space opposite San Siro.
"Facchetti and Maldini wrote some of the most important pages in the history of Italian and world football," said the Nerazzurri vice president. "They were two people who meant so much on both a human and a sporting level. This monument is an important dedication to their memory.
"We're stood on the eve of a massive final in a stadium with a rich history. Both teams deserve to be there and we'll see who is the stronger side."
