MILAN – Today, 27 May, holds a special place on the calendar for the Nerazzurri.
It was on this very day back in 1964 that captain Armando Picchi held aloft the first European Cup trophy in Inter's history after a 3-1 win against Real Madrid in Vienna. He was back doing the same thing one year later when the Nerazzurri won the competition for the second year running thanks to victory against Benfica at San Siro.
This was also the date chosen to celebrate the 15th Scudetto in the club's history back in 2007 at the Meazza, which coincided with the unveiling of the special centenary shirt for the following season. The celebrations were rounded off on the pitch with a 3-0 win against Torino thanks to goals from Marco Materazzi, Maicon and Luis Figo.
