REGGIO EMILIA – Putting the result to one side, Fabio Della Giovanna will remember this evening for the rest of his life.
During the second half in this evening's game against Sassuolo, the Primavera captain came on to make his Serie A debut for Inter.
"As the match went on, I was thinking that I wasn't going to get on but then it happened and I'm delighted," the 19-year-old defender declared after the game. "They were the longest ten minutes of my life.
"It's been my dream to play in Serie A and I've achieved it. For someone like me, who started off in the Pulcini, it feels like I've come full circle. There's still a long way to go and this was the first step.
"The coach sent me to warm up alongside [Enrico] Baldini and [Senna] Miangue," Della Giovanna revealed to Inter Channel. "He then called my name and the emotion was indescribable. I told him I was calm but in fact my head was spinning.
"I want to say thank you to my family, friends and all the coaches who have been with me from the Pulcini C to the Primavera.
"If you had told me this would happen in July, I would have thought you were joking. Now we just need victory in the Primavera championship to round off an incredible season."
