MILAN - It's Throwback Thursday time again! This week we turn the clocks all the way back to 12 May 1965, when Helenio Herrera's Inter side defeated Liverpool by three goals to nil at San Siro to advance to the European Cup final for the second year in succession.
In a match that would go down as one of the highlights of La Grande Inter era, Mario Corso put the Nerazzurri 1-0 up after just eight minutes, before Joaquin Piero doubled the advantage barely two minutes later. And with 80,000 Inter fans roaring their side on, Giacinto Facchetti finished off a wonderful flowing move to seal the result and set the Nerazzurri on their way to another European Cup win.
