MANCINI LOOKS BACK ON SEASON SO FAR

Inter boss Roberto Mancini has spoken exclusively to Sport Mediaset as the season draws to a close

APPIANO GENTILE Roberto Mancini believes there are positives to be taken from Inter’s 2015/16 campaign, despite expressing his disappointment at not having been able to challenge for second place.

"The only regret is that we’ve not been able to get to 70 or 71 points and fight it out for second place, because that’s something we could have achieved," began Mancini, speaking exclusively to Sport Mediaset on Thursday.

"I don’t think we need to write off the season – when it’s Inter people are often too harsh in their judgements," continued Mancini.

With the end of the season fast approaching, talk inevitably turned to the summer transfer window, with Yaya Toure one of the names put to Mancini: "We need players with personality and technical skill to bridge the gap with the leaders. Toure is a Manchester City player and I prefer not to name names – we need to evaluate everything carefully."

Finally, Mancini was asked whether both he and president Erick Thohir would be staying at Inter in the long term: "The president has said that, so it’s true."
