MILAN - Inter Channel grabbed some of the Primavera boys for a quick chat amidst all the celebrations in the wake of their Coppa Italia triumph at the Stadio Meazza tonight.
Primavera skipper Fabio Della Giovanna was keen to thank the fans who turned up at the Meaza for the role they played in what was an intensely fought contest.
"We had to scrap for it but we got there in the end. It's a dream final to win the Coppa Italia here at a stadium like San Siro. The crowd were brilliant – they really helped us when we were struggling. I want to thank all the fans who came along tonight.
"We've got a smashing group of lads here and we're hungry for success – that's our strength."
Loris Zonta, the man who put the game to bed in the dying seconds, also had his say.
“It was a great goal to cap it off. They had us on the ropes at times but we got the result we wanted. Juventus are a top team and they caused us lots of problems.
“It was the strength of this group and the coach's encouragement that saw us through it, and then the fans got behind us and carried us to victory. Hopefully we'll get the chance to experience that again but now we have to focus on the end of the league season."
On a potential call-up to the first team: “It's not up to me but I always hope to be able to help the team. I spent some time with Roberto Mancini in Doha and he taught me loads. He and Stefano Vecchi have both congratulated us."
Finally, it was the turn of Andrea Pinamonti – the youngest player in the squad – to speak to the cameras. Aged just 16, he didn't get on the score sheet today but has already chipped in with a number of decisive goals this season – including one against Lazio in the semi-final.
"It's a wonderful opportunity for me to be here and I just hope to make the most of the chances I get. I want to thank everyone – my family and my friends, who are always there supporting me.
"I didn't score today but the main thing was we won the cup. Our next target is the league title and hopefully we can win that as well."
