MILAN – There was an unforgettable experience for a lucky group of Inter Academy Japan youngsters last week as 24 kids of between the ages of nine and 13 descended on Milan for a week at the heart of the Nerazzurri world.
The Japanese delegation took part in three training sessions at the Centro Sportivo Giacinto Facchetti, alongside Inter Grassroots Program clubs GES Monza and Castellanzese as well as the Calcio Como Academy Training Centre. The youngsters were also able to visit Appiano Gentile, meet their compatriot Yuto Nagatomo and watch a first-team training session from the sidelines.
Next up was a trip to Inter HQ to pose for photos in the trophy room, followed by a guided tour of the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, where the children then got the chance to watch the Nerazzurri take on Torino on Sunday night. But the surprises weren’t over there: the youngsters were lucky enough to wish the players good luck as they made their way out onto the field and then meet vice president Javier Zanetti and president Erick Thohir.
All in all it was a very positive trip for all concerned, with the Japanese delegation showing good progress from a technical standpoint, as well as the impeccable organisation and attitude we’ve come to expect: all of the activities were undertaken with commitment and discipline, in accordance with the Inter Academy and Nerazzurri youth academy philosophy.
