MILAN – The Inter Club initiative makes it easy for you to share your passion for the Nerazzurri, whether you live thousands of miles away or in the shadow of San Siro itself.
This week we caught up with Juxhin Rama, the young president of Inter Club Albania, who tells all about his Club and how its members get behind the team from abroad.
When and how did Inter Club Albania come about?
"We were founded in Tirana, the capital of Albania, on 9 November 2011. It was a tough time for the team but that didn’t stop us from putting an official seal on our love for the Nerazzurri colours. There were seven of us co-founders but we used our Facebook page to engage with more fans and now we’re very proud to say the current club has 405 members. "
Is there an event you’ve organised that makes you particularly proud?
"Certainly it would be our trip from Tirana to Milan in December 2013. Seventy-one of us travelled by coach for 32 hours non-stop to take in the Derby di Milano, which Inter won at the death thanks to Palacio’s backheel goal. Our epic journey even got some coverage in the media, but our response was simple: we’re not crazy, we’re in love with our club!"
Is there an Inter Club Coordination Centre event that your members particularly enjoyed?
"Our members loved being invited by the Inter Club Coordination Centre to take in a match and experience the walkabout initiative. We were able to discover lots of new areas of the stadium, including the dressing room and press room. We even got to go out onto the field of play and head down into the bowels of the stadium to welcome the team. It was incredible – an unforgettable moment."
How do you get junior members involved?
"Junior members are a vital part of our Inter Club. We try to get them involved as much as possible with events and competitions based on their age. Lots of our members are dads and they’ve signed their children up too, so there’s always the possibility for us to engage with the youngsters and help their passion grow."
How else do you support the club?
"Our Inter Club is active all season long. There’s a really strong, friendly bond between all our members – we’re like a big family. We get together to watch the matches and organise dinners to celebrate special events such as Inter’s birthday, our own Club’s birthday, the first and last matches of the season and so on and so forth. Despite our location, ever since our foundation we’ve been organising at list one trip to Milan per year to see our beloved Inter!"
